ABOUT MANDALAY PROJECT

Mandalay Region, Myanmar

Convalt Energy, an American-based renewable energy company and operator, has recently developed a fully permitted 300 MW AC Solar Power Project in the Mandalay Division of Myanmar in Southeast Asia.

The 300 MW project will be split into two site locations of Nabuaing and Wundwin, with 150 MW per location. At each location, the 150 MW will be divided into three blocks of 50 MW Solar PV Arrays using the First Solar Series 4 advanced thin film solar PV modules feeding the DC power into the General Electric supplied ProSolar Central Solar Inverters.

The Nabuaing Solar PV Power Plant will interconnect with the grid through a 132 kV double circuit, single conductor transmission line into the existing Myingyan 132 kV substation located in Myingyan, Mandalay Division, which is approximately 27 miles from the Nabuaing site location. The Wundwin Solar PV Power Plant will interconnect with the grid through a 230 kV double circuit, single conductor transmission line into the Thapyawa substation. Thapyawa substation is currently the largest substation in the country and is located approximately 3 miles south of the Wundwin site location. RJE Oceania PTE has been selected for the design, engineering and construction of all transmission lines and substations for the Nabuaing and Wundwin Solar PV Power Plants.

The power generated from the Nabuaing and Wundwin Solar PV Power Plants will contribute the first utility scale solar power to Myanmar, a country with significant energy supply shortages. The Nabuaing and Wundwin Solar PV Power Plants will also contribute towards the increasing economic development of one of Southeast Asia’s most promising economies. Each 150 MW Solar PV Power Plant is expected to have a total energy generation of close to 300,000 MWh per annum.
